Meet Our CEO

I am a Jamaican-born Florida native now residing in Augusta, GA. I got there by way of the military. I served over ten years in the Army. I retired in 2013 and stayed at home raising my children and regrouping for years. My PTSD and anxiety kept me from truly following my dreams for about five years after I got out of the service. I had a hard time wanting to leave my home, going to stores and meeting people. One day I just said, “I do not want to be this way”. I need to start doing things outside my home. My children need to see me as a mother that succeeds at things, to know nothing is impossible.” I asked myself “What job/career can I do that if I made no money, I would still be happy?”. The answer was hair and making wigs.  

I’ve been styling hair since I was 12. My first hairstyle was a head of micro braids for my mom. I started making wigs and weaves back in high school just for fun with some friends. I just never took it seriously. So that’s why I take my work so seriously now. 

 I first worked as a nail tech when I got my license. I became licensed in 2018. I love how creative doing nails can be, but I just was not in love with it the way I am with hair. Next, I worked at a hair salon and then from my home doing wig installations and wig making for clients. In 2019, I was selected as a stylist for Oprah Winfrey’s “Life in Vision"2020 tour while opening a salon. That was an amazing experience and moment in my career. Three months after we opened our doors, the pandemic began, and we had to close. I used that time to work on truly building my wig company Onyx & Mane. I opened my online store www.shoponyxnmane.com to reach future clients looking for custom-made wigs in 2020. Once the quarantine ended, we were back in business. 

 We have continued to slowly expand into other markets and grow our company. In 2021 we released our signature lace glue "Snatched" strawberry. In 2022, we opened the Onyx & Mane Beauty Bar in Augusta, Georgia. We expanded to provide beauty services and bill through insurance companies for our clients. We want to provide for those who we feel need it most.  

2023 has marked a period of considerable growth. We now offer an extensive range of hair and skin treatment services. We have partnered with other companies to provide extensive service geared to the health and beauty field. There's something for everyone! We strive to provide quality products and services at reasonable prices so that our customers and clients can enjoy a wealth of product options.
